The breast wall of glass furnaces is subjected to the erosion of flame and fly ash. So, refractory materials with good corrosion resistance to the two forms of corrosion are used in the breast wall.

The Insulation of the Breast Wall of Glass Furnaces

Fused cast AZS block, due to its great corrosion resistance, is widely used in the breast wall. Since the working temperature of the breast wall is high, insulation is necessary.

There are three types of structure and materials for the insulation of the breast wall.

1) Two insulation layer. The first layer is the dense or lightweight aluminum silicate as high temperature insulation layer. The second layer or the outer layer is ultra-lightweight refractory insulation or fiber insulation materials.

2) "Multi-block" insulation. The multi-block is constructed with several different insulation ceramic materials with different thermal conductivity. This structure is now widely used in the world.

3) Honeycomb aluminum phosphate or chromium phosphate concrete as the high temperature insulation layer and the phosphorus perlite or perlite as the outer layer.
