Construction Of Furnace Refractory Line: Preparation

Proper construction of refractory is very important for ensuring the service life of the furnaces. Before the construction, proper preparation should be made and some requirements should be met. 

1.The construction of refractory must be carried out by qualified companies. 

 

2. The masonry of furnaces can only be carried out after the construction of foundation, steel structure and pipes and the installation of related equipment are finished and passes the check of quality and the project handover certificate is signed. 

 

3. Before the start of construction, first check the center line, elevation (in contrast with the reference point), the flatness of the shell and sizes of door viewers, column bottom perforation, burner holes, pyrometer holes, manometer interfaces and camera lens. The inner side of the pipes and flues should be insulated. These pipes should pas the check of quality. 

 

4. The project handover certificate should include the following content: 1) the measurement record of the furnace centerline and control elevation; 2) the acceptance record of concealed works; 3) the record of the water cooling components, pressure test of the pipeline and the tightness of welding; 4) the retest record of the main sizes of the installation locations of steel structures and rails; 5) the commissioning record of the movable portions of the furnace bottom and body; 6) the inspection record of the position, sizes and welding quality of anchors; 7) the position of holes. 

 

5.The security technology and labor protection for the construction of industrial furnaces should comply with the related standards issued by the government. 

 

6.Before the start of construction, the factory should be capped. The roads of the site should be clear. The dangerous parts should be protected with fences and covers. The continuous supply of water, electricity and gas at the site should be ensured all the day. Special circumstances should informed in advance. 

 

7.The construction company should equipped with the necessary templates, shaped templates, molds, arch tire, scaffolding, all the equipment such as brick cut machine and personal tools for bricklaying (slurry tank, large shovels, rubber hammer, feeler, ink fountain, supporting board and wire-hammer, etc.), mixer and vibrator for the construction of refractory castables, ramming pneumatic hammer for the construction of plastic materials, yellow card boards for reserved expansion joints, water tank and necessary means of transport. 

 

8.Necessary security measures should be taken on the working face. Firm platforms should be set in the upper working area for the movement of persons and temporary storage of construction materials. Railings and covers should be set if there are holes on the floor to avoid accidents. 

 

9.Waterproof Stacking space and warehouses should be set up for the storage of materials at site. 

 

10. Check all drawings. Confirm the construction drawing for use is valid.
